The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is accepting applications for Basic Center Program (BCP) grants. The purpose of BCP is to provide an alternative for runaway and homeless youth who might otherwise end up with law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems. Grantees are required to have an operational structure that provides temporary, emergency shelter and individual family and group counseling, as appropriate, to youth under 18 years for up to 21 days. Grantees are required to provide services to runaway, homeless, and street youth that increase their safety, well-being, and self-sufficiency, and help them build permanent connections with caring adults.
Grants of $50,000 to $200,000 will be awarded for each year of a 36-month project cycle.
Public and non-profit agencies or a combination of such entities are eligible for awards under this funding opportunity. Grant applications are due July 22, 2013. For more information, click here.
