Innovation School Fellowship Opportunity for Educational Entrepreneurs

by | Apr 28, 2014

For almost a decade, The Mind Trust has been funding and supporting innovative initiatives to change the face of education in Indianapolis, and their impact has been hard to ignore. Transform Consulting Group highlighted The Mind Trust’s “ripple effect” work last fall in a blog post.

In 2008, The Mind Trust began a search for educational entrepreneurs to serve as fellows as they create and birth significant reform movements. The newest program, another fellowship,  is the Innovation School Fellowship.

This ground-breaking opportunity will give education leaders the opportunity to partner with the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) to start new schools, called Innovation Network Schools. The selected Innovation School Fellows will be able to utilize IPS buildings and resources through contracting with the IPS Central Office but will not be managed by or subject to the same laws concerning IPS, giving each school a unique level of independence and creativity.

The fellowship’s purpose is to give future school leaders time and resources to prepare for launching their new schools. Fellows will receive one paid year (salary and benefits totaling $129,000) and opportunities to learn from national experts and high-performing schools.

Any current teacher or administrator of an IPS or public charter school is eligible to apply as well as national leaders who would like to make an impact in the Indianapolis community.

Statements of Intent are due to The Mind Trust by May 15th. Full applications are due June 1st. Announcements of fellows will be made in July.

Anyone interested in this opportunity should participate in a live webinar at 5pm on April 29th to learn more about the Innovation School Fellowship. Information about the webinar can be found here.

Transform Consulting Group applauds The Mind Trust’s effort to invest in innovation that will not only benefit our students but also the larger community!
