Did you know that Indiana’s college-going rate is at its lowest point in more than 10 years? According to the 2021 Indiana College Readiness Report, the state’s college-going rate has steadily declined since 2015. This highlights the urgent need for effectively preparing students for college, especially since Black and Latino students have the lowest college-going rates.

Recent data from the National Student Clearinghouse shows that the national decline in college-going rates has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Between 2019 and 2020, overall fall enrollments declined by 6.8 percent, 4.5 times greater than the decline seen between 2018 and 2019. The pandemic also worsened existing equity gaps. High schools with characteristics like high poverty, low income, and high minority populations saw steeper declines in their college-going rates.

Transform Consulting Group is proud to partner with many college and career readiness programs and education partners that address this issue. We work with organizations like the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) and La Plaza, which target populations affected by equity gaps. Learn more about our work with CLD and La Plaza on our website’s Case Study page!

In our college and career readiness work, we leverage our collective expertise as a team of former social workers, educators, and practitioners to help our clients develop an equitable approach to support their students. Our experience in this area has included working with clients to:

  • Access the latest resources and research to inform their programming efforts
  • Develop a four-year college preparation and career achievement curriculum for first-generation students
  • Establish systems to evaluate their program and demonstrate their impact
  • Identify and develop relationships with key partners who can help them further their impact
  • Communicate their outcomes to partners, funders, and stakeholders

As COVID-19 continues to affect the educational landscape, it is more important than ever for students to have access to supportive programs as they prepare for life after high school. Contact us today to learn more about how we can support your college and career readiness efforts!
