Registration is now open for the Women Leading Philanthropy Symposium at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers on April 2-3, 2014. Organized by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, symposium attendees will learn from leaders in philanthropy, social innovation, and enterprise who apply innovation, disrupt the status quo, create true impact, and effect social change in their communities and across the globe. Focusing more on the “why” rather than the “how-to,” the symposium is designed to reflect, learn, share knowledge, and discuss trends, developments, and changes in philanthropy. Who should attend?
- Philanthropists and donors
- Leaders in philanthropy, business, and government
- Family foundation, community foundation, private foundation CEOS, board members, and senior staff
- Professional advisors who counsel philanthropists
- Fundraising practitioners and consultants
- Researchers
Most School of Philanthropy symposia use empirical research as the framework for the conversation. However, research about the impact of women in philanthropy is generally limited to reports about gender balance on nonprofit boards and the gender wage gap. This symposium aims to encourage more research, deepen conversations, inspire the development of appropriate measurement tools, and expand awareness about women’s significant contributions to the philanthropic sector.
