Angela Shamblin

Angela Shamblin is the Communications & Change Manager for the Project Management Office (PMO) assisting in the implementation of the new statewide automated Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) for the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS). Her primary responsibility will be to ensure proper communication between all entities working on the project.

A self-described data evangelist, Angela has worked in the field of research, analysis, and evaluation for over a decade. She has a master’s degree in Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University. Most recently, Angela was the Data Analysis Team Director for the Indiana Department of Health’s (IDOH) Epidemiology Resource Center (ERC).

She also served as Indiana’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Coordinator for her first two years on the job. Prior to her work in public health, Angela spent many years working both directly for DCS as a state employee and as a contractor with KSM Consulting. Her primary role at DCS was operational analysis. She began her career there as an analyst, but eventually became the head of the Research & Evaluation Team.
While data may be the perennial focus of Angela’s work, her real passion is advocating for others and making sure the needs of all people are considered. Angela hopes this CCWIS project will be an opportunity to improve the experiences of children and families in Indiana.

Fun Fact: Angela was once the lead singer of a band, but now that she has retired from that life, she spends her time learning fun r&b covers on the ukulele.
Favorite Food: Angela’s mother is Korean, and she spent the first five years of her life in Korea so she has a deep love of Korean cuisine. The only thing Angela is more evangelical about than data is Korean food. She never tires of introducing others to a whole new world of flavor!
