The (SOS) funding could be used in the following ways: (1) improve sexual assault advocacy services for victims; (2) increase education and awareness in communities; (3) target underserved populations; and (4) provide training for students and professionals in effort to reduce the reoccurrences of sexual violence. Program efforts should be focused on victim safety; heightening community education and awareness in the areas of prevention and safe housing; and intervention for victims and their dependents. ICJI has not yet been informed of the federal funding level for the October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014 grant period; however, no match is required. Funding in prior years has been about $150,000. Applicants are required to be an existing service provider with a non-profit 501(c)(3) status or government entity offering services to victims of sexual assault. The grant application deadline is August 19, 2013. For more information, click here.
