Heart Puzzle

Transform Consulting Group is tracking grant opportunities for programs that assist children and adults on the autism spectrum. The National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) announced three new federal grant opportunities available to nonprofits, governments, faith-based organizations and schools focused on research and evaluation of best practices in the provision of services for autistic children and adults. These three grants will total $10 million for 10-18 grantees over a 3 year funding period. Letters of intent are due September 22, 2013 and the closing date for grant applications is October 22, 2013.

1) The first grant opportunity supports research to develop and pilot test strategies to assist transition-age youth with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families in planning for and smoothly transitioning into adult functioning and adult services.   More information can be found here.

2) The second grant opportunity supports research that develops and tests service system interventions that are broadly implementable and that rapidly engage young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in evidence-based treatment and services early in life. More information can be found here.

3) The third grant opportunity is for preliminary studies to develop adult ASD service strategies that address areas of employment and training, social relationships, physical and mental health, and independent functioning including community housing and safety, alone or in combination. More information is available here.

The NIMH will hold a pre-application webinar on all three grant opportunities on July 17, 2013 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. (EDT), to which all prospective applicants are invited.
