What is Crowdrise Fundraising?

Crowdrise LogoCrowdrise is an easy way to raise money online for charity and have fun while doing it (reflected in the slogan, “If you don’t give back, no one will like you.”).  Based on the idea that lots of small donations can really add up, Crowdrise was named a “Top 25 Global Philanthropist” by Barron’s.

The genius of Crowdrise is that it isn’t simply a traditional fundraising tool for nonprofits, but it also allows individuals who are passionate about a cause to set up a personal fundraising page to support the charity of their choice… potentially increasing the fundraising pool exponentially!  Crowdrise is entirely free to use, and here are the steps:

STEP 1: Create your online fundraiser and start accepting donations for any charity, set a fundraising goal, add compelling pics and video, and you’ll have a stunning, personalized fundraising page.

STEP 2: Share your Fundraiser via email, Facebook, the Facebook Send Messages Service, Twitter, and LinkedIn.  Crowdrise also has rewards and special promotions where fundraisers and donors can get free items.

STEP 3: Donors will make donations to the Charities of their choice by using the Network for Good or Amazon Payments secure credit card processing service. Charities can opt to receive a lump sum check every 30 days or they can receive each donation in real-time. In either case, Crowdrise doesn’t touch the cash.

Here are some creative fundraising ideas from Crowdrise worth checking out.  The fun of Crowdrise comes into play when people get really creative in their efforts.  Robin Hood had an incredible Fundraising Team in the NYC Marathon.  Sophia Bush gave up her Birthday for Charity.  Molly and Matt created a Charity Wedding Registry for causes they both support.  Mozilla Firefox sponsored a Fundraising Challenge where charities competed for prize money. Dan Adams started an Adventure Fundraiser when he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. And, Random Acts used the innovative concept of Sponsored Volunteerism to raise over $300,000 for Haiti.
