Transform Consulting Group is letting you know about a new grant opportunity! The Walmart Foundation meets the needs of the underserved by directing charitable giving. The Walmart State Giving Program awards grants ranging from $25,000 to $250,000 to nonprofits that serve a particular state or region. These grants are open to all 50 states in these areas of focus:

  1. Education — addressing the educational needs of underserved young people between the ages of 12 and 25;
  2. Workforce — development/economic opportunity, providing job readiness and skills training as well as support services for workers with low to moderate skills;
  3. Environmental sustainability — promoting production systems that sustain people and the environment by reducing waste and promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable resources; and
  4. Health and Wellness — improving access to health care, reducing healthcare disparities, and promoting nutrition.

Nonprofit organizations must operate on a regional/state level or be affiliates/chapters of larger organizations that operate on the regional/state level. The State Giving Program has two application cycles per year. The first cycle runs January to March. The second funding cycle begins in June and ends in August. The application deadline for the second funding cycle is August 9, 2013. For more information, click here.
